TI Retiree Movie Day Trip - February 24, 2011

Abe & Connie Abdalla.

Since we didn't get a Harris County bus for the 1st Quarter of 2011, our enthusiastic Day Trip Coordinator, Jeanne Brandt, has been working hard to line up Drive-Yourself outings for these months without a bus. Jeanne decided that there were two movies on at the Lowe's Theater in the Fountains that were of the quality that would interest our Club. We were given a choice between The King's Speech and True Grit, both up for Academy Awards.

Tony & Susan Leigh.

We drove our own cars and met at 10:45 am at the theater. Unfortunately, we forgot to take a group photo, or any photos at the theater, but everyone in attendance enjoyed the Movies. Jeanne Brandt, Daryl & Brenda Moss, Abe & Connie Abdalla and Francis & Hank Kuczynski went to see True Grit, the Coen Brothers western. Tony & Susan Leigh, Bob & Marian Gruber and Israel and Nora Morales went to see The King's Speech, about King George VI and his stuttering impediment, and how he faced it with the help of a speech therapist. Shortly after this, The King's Speech won Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards. There were 13 in attendance at the theater.

After the movies, everyone was hungry and ready for lunch at the nearby Fuddruckers, so 11 of our folks continued to the Fuddruckers to enjoy yummy hamburgers! Charlie Sumrall joined us there.

Join us soon on another exciting Day Trip.
