Third Coast Comedy Theater - August 21, 2010

by Lucy Salas

We met the bus at Bayland Park on Saturday, August 21st at 4:45 pm and left at 5:00 pm. We stopped and ate at Jason's Deli. What a night. I had never had such great food. It was very reasonably priced and we got filled up. They have the best sandwiches and had good service.

Some of the Comedy Theater cast.

After the good food, we were on our way to the comedy theater. The Third Coast Comedy Theater is good clean fun for all the family. The show started at 7pm and lasted until 10:30 pm. Third Coast Comedy's performers use the four rules of improv to create hilarious scenes on-the-spot during the comedy shows. Each show is unique!
The Rules of Improv:
1. Yes, And
2. Stay Present
3. Be a Character
4. Make Your Teammates Look BRILLIANT

People from the audience volunteer to go up on stage to act out some skit along with the regular cast. After a chorus of chants: Lucy, Lucy, I was "volunteered" up on stage. It was hot up there with all the lights and I couldn't see anything. I was sweating up a storm. I was glad when the skit was over. They were also recording it for YouTube. The audience suggested we make this skit about mountain climbing. He would say, "Pick me up buttercup." and I was suppose to say, "It's getting colder and I'm slipping." I was getting bored so I was trying to make him fall off the cliff. You can doctor the skit up as much as you want. The show was enjoyed by all.

Some enjoyed the show more than others.

On the way home, we had a drawing for goodies. The winners were: Bob Gruber, Marian Grubar, Mary Gomez, Daren Welch, and Patsy Saey.

Attendees were Vivian Watkins, Lucy Salas, Bob & Marian Gruber, Patsy Seay, Daren & Jewel Welch, Ruth Hiatt, Mary Gomez, Howard & Mary Lee Cameron, Daryl & Brenda Moss, Ralph & Estella Garcia, Delores Baugh, Rose Cerda, Linda Cerda, Israel & Nora Morales. Twenty-six people signed up but we ended up with 20 plus the bus driver, Ricardo.

The food and service were good at Jason's Deli.

Don't eat too much, Bob.
